European breakdown cover When you’re travelling in a different country and don’t speak the language, it’s often ten times more difficult to get help on the spot if you’ve broken down. But if you take out additional breakdown cover with us, all you need to do is give us a call. As long as you’re travelling in one of our approved countries, we’ll help you get back on the road again. How do I know if I have breakdown cover? It’s always best to check your emails or insurance documents to see if you already have breakdown cover. You can do this through Sterling by logging in and viewing all your documents and policy information. If you’re not sure who your insurance provider is, you can simply search your emails by typing ‘breakdown’ into the email search bar. Or if you know who your provider is but you’re not sure if your breakdown cover policy is still active, you can call your insurance broker and ask them to check the status of your cover. Does travel insurance cover car breakdown? No. If you want to travel abroad in your car, we offer breakdown cover for countries in Europe, as well as countries further afield if you’re looking for an adventure. Does car insurance cover breakdowns? Most standard car insurance policies don’t include breakdown repairs, but you can add our breakdown cover to your insurance policy. Our prices for this start from £46.80. What is the excess on car breakdown cover? There isn’t an excess on Sterling Rescue breakdown cover. You’ll only need to pay for additional services if they aren’t covered on your current level of cover. What does onward journey mean in breakdown cover? Onward journey, or onward travel, helps ensure that even if your car needs to be taken to the garage, you won’t be stranded. It ensures you and other passengers reach the destination of your choice. What is national breakdown cover? This is when your policy includes national recovery. Following a breakdown that cannot be repaired at the roadside, national recovery allows you to choose where you’d like your vehicle to be towed. This can be a destination of your choice.
