Green Card insurance from just £395!

Why should I choose Green Card cover with Sterling?

Depending on the policy, standard car insurance can include European cover for a short period of time. At Sterling, for example, our motoring policies include European cover for up to 30 days.

A Green Card is documented proof a British motorist has adequate insurance cover for the country they are driving in. It is unlikely that you’ll be asked to present one while travelling in Norway, but carrying a Green Card can still offer peace of mind and proof that you’ve got the right level of cover.

Green Card insurance is an internationally recognised certificate of insurance that confirms the visiting motorists have the minimum compulsory cover required by the law of the country visited.

If you’re planning a driving trip to Europe, you will want to feel confident that you have the right insurance cover in the event of an accident. Sterling can offer Green Card insurance to drivers aged 21 years or over, and also newly qualified drivers.

It is not currently a legal requirement in many countries to have a Green Card, but it will give you peace of mind and make things much easier if you need to make a claim or exchange details with another driver or the police.

  • Get your Green Card paperwork organised in plenty of time before departure.
  • Make sure the Green Card is valid for all the countries you are driving in.
  • The Green Card documentation must have a minimum of 15 days cover from the date of travel.
  • Motorists must travel with a printed copy of the Green Card paperwork – and it must be on green paper to be valid.
  • Keep up with the Government guidance if the UK leaves the EU without a deal on 31 October 2019.

Norway is the “land of the midnight sun” and between May and late July the sun never fully sets. In the winter months, however, it never fully rises meaning many hours of darkness which makes Norway an excellent destination for viewing the aurora borealis, the northern lights.

The Norwegian fjords are one of the world’s top tourist attractions and whether you are tempted by the huge Sognefjord, Pulpit Rock near Stavanger which overlooks Lysefjord, or Fjaerland and Europe’s biggest glacier, Jostedalsbreen, the views will be unforgettable. Oslo’s Viking Ships Museum is also a must on your Scandinavian itinerary.

If you’re driving from the UK to Norway, you might find the easiest way to get there by car is by getting the Eurotunnel and crossing to mainland Europe. From Calais, you can go up through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Denmark. From Hirtshals in Northern Denmark, you can get the ferry over to Norway – there are a few different options available.

Or if you want to visit Oslo and you’d prefer to take a ferry directly from Denmark to the city, there is a ferry from Kiel to Oslo. It’s worth mentioning, however, that this is usually more expensive and takes about 20 hours, so it’s only a good option for people who aren’t in a hurry.
