The European banger rally season steps up a gear in June with a host of great events to test your driving skills, endurance and appetite for fun.
Here the banger racing fans at Sterling Insurance pick out the highlights to look out for during the continent’s campaign.
Monte Carlo or Bust
Things kick-off on June 1 for those who want to chance their luck on the ever popular Monte Carlo or Bust which sets out from Rouen on the River Seine in France and takes in five countries in three action filled days.
Expect spectacular scenery, testing navigational challenges and some stunning mountain views before winding up in Monte Carlo, and perhaps a trip to the casino.
For those with a slightly sweeter taste there’s the alternative Monte Carlo or Bust – Black Forest Gateau which sets out from Namur in Belgium and winds through six countries in three days before also finishing in Monte Carlo. This route covers 1,200 miles so you had better ensure your five hundred quid car is up to the job!
Drive Another Day
The Crumball Rally Co celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023 and is planning its longest and most testing three-day rally to depart on June 15. The exact route of Drive Another Day is being kept under wraps!
This one will be a real test of your mechanical know how because the maximum spend on the car is a measly £200.

The Italian Job
You can dream the dream in The Italian Job which departs on June 15.
The route will take you through the open French countryside, spectacular Lake Geneva, Swiss mountains and hairpin roads such as the St. Bernards Pass, where Charlie Croker – played by Michael Caine – and his gang were famously relieved of their cars by the Mafia in the film that inspires the rally.
You will also see other unforgettable film locations and the exciting traffic chaos of Turin, with a magnificent final day trip to Monaco and finishing in Nice.

Barmy to Barcelona
At the end of the month, departing on June 30, Barmy to Barcelona takes in the Swiss Alps, rolling hills of Italy, the French Riviera and the Spanish Catalan capital.
There will be daily challenges, prizes and fancy dress is obligatory before the trip comes to an end with a party and awards ceremony at a lively sports bar on Las Ramblas.
