You should check your policy booklet to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sterling-insurance.co.uk\/northern-ireland\/blog\/insurance\/insurance-travel-republic-ireland\/\">make sure you\u2019re insured to drive<\/a> in the Republic of Ireland. You\u2019ll no longer have to carry a green card with you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sterling-insurance.co.uk\/northern-ireland\/blog\/insurance\/republic-of-ireland-travel-insurance\/\">when you travel<\/a> in Ireland, but you\u2019ll still need to make sure your insurance covers you on your travels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-will-i-need-an-international-driving-permit-idp\">Will I need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as you hold a driving licence from NI or the UK, you won\u2019t need to take an IDP with you when you travel in the Republic of Ireland. You\u2019ll need to bring your driving licence along with you to prove that you can travel freely in the Republic though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gb-and-uk-car-stickers\">GB and UK car stickers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The GB car sticker has recently been replaced by the UK car sticker.
